And here we go, into the wilder and untamed end of the world of the Roller Derby Divas, as this is the time where we cease to be ladylike, gentle and genteel, and we get violent.
For every Derby Diva, the time will come when you must enter the arena, and prepare to engage in battle for the precious space around you, when your wheels must remain firm and your rival must be upset or even overturned by your power and intention. For this you will rely upon all of your training and your protective gear, as these two, if correctly adjusted, will help you through your bouts.
Whatever your Roller derby name for girls that you have, the gloves will come off (so to speak) and niceties will be abandoned… It may be that the first few times you will be a little cautious and perhaps even offended by the assault of the other teams, but once you have bumped down a couple of times, and grown to rather dislike the humiliation (and sore butt) you will learn to fight back.
And with each meeting you will learn, you will adapt your style and methods, refine your skills and maybe earn a reputation – Now how would you feel about that, to have a reputation as a tough girl, one who will not be pushed around?
